Adult ADHD Treatment That Works

Think You Might Have ADHD?

Same-week evaluations available. If you're struggling with focus, organization, or follow-through — and it's affecting your work, relationships, or daily life — our board-certified psychiatrists can help with a thorough evaluation and personalized treatment plan.

If you are in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, please call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline immediately.

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental conditions in adults, yet it remains widely underdiagnosed — especially in women and adults who were never evaluated as children. The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that 4.4% of U.S. adults have ADHD, but many don't receive a diagnosis until their 30s, 40s, or later.

At Empathy Health Clinic, we provide comprehensive ADHD treatment for adults in Orlando, Winter Park, and throughout Florida via telehealth. Our approach starts with a thorough ADHD evaluation to confirm the diagnosis, rule out conditions that can mimic ADHD (like anxiety, depression, or sleep disorders), and understand how ADHD specifically affects your life.

Treatment options include Vyvanse, Ritalin/Concerta, and non-stimulant medications like Strattera, Intuniv, and Wellbutrin. We do not prescribe Adderall. Every medication decision is based on your evaluation results, symptom profile, medical history, and personal preferences.

ADHD frequently co-occurs with other conditions — particularly anxiety and depression. Our psychiatrists are trained to identify and treat these overlapping conditions together, rather than addressing only one piece of the puzzle.

Ongoing medication monitoring is central to our approach. ADHD medication requires regular follow-ups for dosage optimization, side-effect management, and functional outcome tracking. We offer both in-person and telepsychiatry follow-ups.

What ADHD Treatment Includes

From evaluation through ongoing medication management

1

Comprehensive ADHD Evaluation

A thorough clinical interview assessing ADHD symptoms across your lifespan — childhood, adolescence, and current functioning. We differentiate ADHD from anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and other conditions that can mimic ADHD symptoms.

2

Stimulant Medication Options

Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) and Ritalin/Concerta (methylphenidate) are the stimulant options we prescribe. Both are well-studied, effective, and carefully monitored. We do not prescribe Adderall.

3

Non-Stimulant Medication Options

For patients who prefer non-stimulant treatment or have conditions that make stimulants less suitable, we offer Strattera (atomoxetine), Intuniv (guanfacine), and Wellbutrin (bupropion).

4

Comorbidity Screening

ADHD frequently co-occurs with anxiety (up to 50% of adults), depression, and other conditions. We screen for and treat these overlapping conditions together.

5

Ongoing Medication Monitoring

Regular follow-ups every 2-4 weeks initially, then quarterly, to optimize dosage, manage side effects, and track functional outcomes — work performance, relationships, daily organization.

6

Therapy & Coaching Coordination

We coordinate with therapists and ADHD coaches when appropriate. CBT for ADHD, organizational skills training, and behavioral strategies complement medication for many patients.

ADHD Presentations We Treat

Predominantly Inattentive (formerly ADD)Difficulty sustaining focus, following through on tasks, staying organized, managing time. Often missed in childhood because there's no disruptive behavior.
Combined TypeBoth inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. Internal restlessness, difficulty waiting, impulsive decisions alongside focus and organization challenges.
Predominantly Hyperactive-ImpulsiveRestlessness, fidgeting, difficulty sitting still, interrupting, acting without thinking. Less common in adults as a standalone type.
Late-Diagnosed ADHD in WomenWomen are diagnosed with ADHD at much lower rates than men, often because their symptoms present differently — more inattention, less hyperactivity, more compensatory strategies that mask the condition.
ADHD with Co-occurring AnxietyUp to 50% of adults with ADHD also have an anxiety disorder. We treat both conditions together with careful medication selection.
Executive Function ChallengesDifficulty with planning, prioritizing, initiating tasks, managing time, and regulating emotions — the 'CEO skills' of the brain that ADHD disrupts.
